About

Elijah Lawal is a British Nigerian published author and screenwriter, currently living in San Francisco. He earned an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of Kent and took the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School in London, where he is classed as competent to practise Law in UK & Wales. He then spent over a decade working in tech companies as a publicist. He is currently a PR & Public Affairs Manager for artificial intelligence at Google.

His debut non-fiction book, The Clapback: Your Guide to Calling out Racist Stereotypes was published to great acclaim in the UK and is available everywhere. Elijah lives in San Francisco and is working on his screenplay and next book.

5 Fun Facts:

  • My first foray into writing, at age ten, was a story about two siblings who fled to a fictional island refuge named Panama. Little did I know then that Panama was real and is in fact, a peninsula.

  • I’m both ordained as a minister to perform marriages and trained in divorce law.

  • I’m a huge zoology nerd, thanks to Sir David Attenborough.

  • I’m obsessed with football (soccer to the uninitiated) and will watch / play in any game.

  • I think I’m the only person alive who prefers Kelly Rowland to Beyonce.
